The first thing to do after the 12th class result is collect your Detailed Marks Certificate (DMC) from your board's office. The DMC is the only document universities accept for admission. Your online result card is a reference, not the official record.

Step 1: Collect Your DMC

Go to your board's office with your admit card and a printed copy of your online result. Some boards issue the DMC from the same day as the result; others take two to five working days. The DMC shows your marks in every subject, your aggregate, your group and whether you passed or failed.

Keep at least four copies of your DMC. Universities, IBCC, hostels and some employers each ask for an attested copy. Get them attested by a gazetted officer or notary at the time of collection to avoid repeat trips.

Step 2: Apply for Rechecking (If You Want to Challenge a Mark)

Rechecking at Pakistani boards means re-totalling your marks and checking for copying errors. It does not mean your answers are re-evaluated. Apply within 10 to 15 days of the result. Boards charge a fee per subject, usually between Rs 500 and Rs 1,500.

FSc Pre-Medical students must register for the MDCAT (Medical and Dental College Admission Test) via the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) website at pmcpakistan.org. Registration opens after the HSSC-II result is announced. The MDCAT is held once a year, usually in October.

FSc Pre-Engineering students apply for the ECAT (Engineering College Admission Test) run by UET Lahore or university-specific entry tests such as NUST NET, FAST NU-FAST, or GIKI's own test. Each university sets its own registration window.

Step 4: Submit University Applications

Most Pakistani universities open admissions within 2 to 4 weeks of the Punjab result, since Punjab has the largest student population. Private universities often open earlier. Government medical and engineering colleges open after the MDCAT or ECAT result.
